Terms of Service
Effective September 2, 2026 · Operated by Ryan Cahalane, an individual doing business as Industrial Genome
← Back to pricingThese Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Genome, the Genome API, Genome for Dealmakers reports, and related services (together, the “Service”), operated by Ryan Cahalane, an individual doing business as Industrial Genome(“we”, “us”). By purchasing a plan, using an API key, or otherwise accessing the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company or fund, you represent that you have authority to bind it, and “you” means that entity.
The Service produces research output — including archetypes, conviction scores, directional signals, and language such as “BUY” or “SELL” — derived entirely from public data. That output is information, not a recommendation. Ryan Cahalane is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or municipal advisor, and provides no personalized investment, financial, legal, tax, or accounting advice. Nothing in the Service creates a fiduciary or advisory relationship. Any case study or historical example of signal performance describes the past and does not indicate future results. You are solely responsible for your investment, acquisition, and diligence decisions, and you should consult your own licensed advisors before acting.
1.The Service
Genome aggregates public information about industrial companies — including securities filings, regulatory and enforcement records, labor and macroeconomic statistics, public hiring activity, and publicly reported leadership changes — and returns structured operational signals, diligence reports, and comparable company sets through a web interface and a REST API.
The Service is an input to your diligence process, not a substitute for it. It does not verify the accuracy of its underlying public sources, does not access any company's internal systems, and does not use material non-public information.
2.Accounts and API keys
Access is authenticated with an API key issued to you after purchase. Your key is displayed once, delivered by email, and is credentials: keep it confidential, do not embed it in client-side code or public repositories, and do not share, sublicense, or resell it. You are responsible for all activity under your key, including usage and charges incurred by anyone you allow to use it.
Tell us promptly at if you believe a key has been exposed, and we will revoke it and issue a replacement. We may revoke a key without notice if we reasonably believe it has been compromised or is being used in breach of these Terms.
3.Plans, credits, and billing
Pay-as-you-go. A one-time purchase of $49 grants 10 lookup credits. One credit is consumed per company report. Credits do not expire and are not transferable between accounts.
Pro. $199 per month grants 200 lookups per monthly billing cycle. Unused lookups do not roll over to the following cycle. Pro renews automatically each month until cancelled.
Both plans are subject to rate limits — 100 lookups per hour on pay-as-you-go, 500 per hour on Pro. Requests over the limit return HTTP 429 and do not consume a credit. Prices are in U.S. dollars and exclude any applicable taxes, which are your responsibility.
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Your use of Stripe's checkout is also subject to Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.
4.Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel a Pro subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle; you keep access for the remainder of that cycle, and we do not prorate or refund partial months.
For pay-as-you-go purchases, we will refund unused credits on request within 14 days of purchase. Credits already spent on delivered reports are not refundable, because the report has been generated and delivered. Request a refund by writing to .
5.Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- redistribute, republish, resell, or sublicense the Service's output as a data feed, dataset, or product of your own;
- use the output to build, train, or improve a competing industrial intelligence dataset, model, or screening product;
- circumvent or attempt to circumvent rate limits, credit accounting, authentication, or any other technical restriction;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or interfere with its operation or with other customers' use of it;
- use the Service in violation of applicable law, including securities and privacy law.
Using the output internally — in your own investment memos, diligence files, screening workflows, and committee materials — is exactly what the Service is for and is permitted under Section 6.
6.Intellectual property and your license
We own the Service and everything underlying it, including the platform, the models, the archetype and conviction methodologies, and the form and structure of the reports. These Terms grant you no rights in any of it except the license in this Section.
Subject to these Terms and your payment, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use report output for your own internal business purposes, including incorporating excerpts into your internal investment and diligence materials. If you quote the output in a document shared outside your organization, attribute it to Genome. Any broader distribution right requires a separate written license from us.
Underlying public source data remains subject to the terms of its original source. We claim no ownership of public records themselves.
7.Your queries are confidential
We treat the identity of the companies you screen as your confidential information. We do not sell, publish, or disclose individual customer query history to third parties, and we do not disclose to a company that you have screened it. We use query data internally only to operate, secure, meter, and improve the Service, and we may disclose it if legally compelled — in which case we will give you notice unless prohibited from doing so.
8.Availability
These plans include no uptime commitment or service level agreement. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, endpoints, or the Service as a whole. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will refund unused pay-as-you-go credits and any prepaid, unused portion of a Pro cycle.
9.Accuracy and data quality
The Service is built on public sources that are themselves incomplete, lagged, and sometimes wrong. Coverage varies by company, filings are periodic, and regulatory databases are updated on their own schedules. Signals are probabilistic inferences, not statements of fact about any company. Reports may be incomplete, out of date, or in error, and you should independently verify anything you intend to rely on.
10.Disclaimer of warranties
The Service and all output are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free operation.
11.Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, lost revenue, lost or inaccurate data, or investment or transaction losses, arising out of or relating to the Service, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain of these exclusions or limitations, in which case they apply to the maximum extent permitted.
12.Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or any decision you or your clients make in reliance on the output.
13.Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if your payment fails, or if your use threatens the security or integrity of the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections 6, 7, and 10 through 15 survive termination.
14.Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will update the effective date above and, for customers with an active plan, give notice by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms. Changes do not apply retroactively to a dispute that arose before they took effect.
15.Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Ohio for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and each of us waives any objection to venue there. Nothing here limits either party's right to seek injunctive relief to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.
16.General
These Terms, together with any order you place, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service and supersede any prior discussions. If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, agency, or employment relationship. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.

Ryan Cahalane, doing business as Industrial Genome
The Service is operated by an individual, not a corporation, and payments are collected through a Stripe account held in that individual's name. We say so plainly because it is the kind of thing a buyer should know before sending money, not discover afterward.
