This page says what Genome collects about you, why, who else sees it, and how to have it removed. It is written from what the system does, not from a template. If something here is not true of the product you are using, write to and it will be corrected.

1What is collected, and when

Nothing, until you give it. Reading the public pages creates no account and sets no tracking cookie. Genome runs no advertising or analytics scripts.

An account (created at /auth/signup) stores your name, your email address, and a hash of your password. The password itself is never stored; it is hashed with bcrypt before it is written. The record also carries a role, which decides what the account can open.

A newsletter subscription, if you tick the box at sign-up or subscribe on the Industrial Signal page, sends your email address to Beehiiv, the service that delivers the newsletter. Unticking the box sends nothing.

An API key, if you request one, is stored as a hash with the email you gave, and each call it makes is logged with the key's prefix, the endpoint, the ticker requested and the response time, so limits can be enforced and problems diagnosed.

A purchaseis handled by Stripe. Card numbers are entered on Stripe's pages and never reach Genome; Genome receives the fact of the purchase, the plan, and an email address to attach it to.

A question to the advisor(Ask Civy) is sent, with the public company data needed to answer it, to Anthropic's API to produce the reply. Do not put private information in a question.

Requests in transit pass through Cloudflare, which fronts the site, and its edge logs carry the IP address and path of each request in the ordinary way. The live demo pull on the Dealmakers page counts requests per IP address to enforce a limit of six per hour; the count is held in memory and is not kept.

2Cookies

One cookie: the session cookie set when you sign in, which is how the site knows the next request is yours. It is removed when you sign out. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics.

3Who else sees it

Beehiiv (newsletter delivery, only if you subscribed), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting and edge), and Anthropic (the advisor's replies). Each receives only what its job needs. Genome does not sell personal data and does not share it with anyone else.

4What it is used for

To sign you in, to deliver what you subscribed to or paid for, to enforce the limits of your plan, and to find and fix faults. Nothing is used to build a profile of you for advertising.

5How long it is kept

Account data is kept while the account exists. API usage logs are kept for operating the service and diagnosing problems. Ask for deletion at any time (Section 6) and the account, its keys and the newsletter subscription are removed; Stripe keeps the records the law requires it to keep about a payment.

6Your choices

Write to to see what is held about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. The newsletter carries an unsubscribe link in every issue.

7Not for children

Genome is a research tool for working professionals and is not directed at anyone under 18.

8Changes

When this page changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. A change that widens what is collected or who sees it will be announced to account holders by email before it takes effect.
